School Council 

Thank you to the families that came out to our recent School Council meeting! A special acknowledgement to Ms. Grainger who presented about what is happening in Grade 4 and the amazing SEL work she is leading in our school.  

The next meeting will be held on February 26 at 9:00 am in the JSM learning commons.  

Alien Inline Family Night 

We are so excited to host our families for our annual Alien Inline Family Skate Night on Thursday, February 5! There will be two time slots available for the event to make sure we have enough space and equipment for everyone to enjoy!

Family Literacy Week 

Families across Calgary are invited to join the Calgary Board of Education in celebrating Family Literacy Week from Jan. 26 to Feb. 2 to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities.  

The CBE Literacy & Early Learning Team has prepared a variety of information and activities to help families engage in meaningful learning at home and at school. Reading together or doing learning activities at home is crucial to a child’s learning and development.  

Here’s some further resources and ways for families to participate:  

• World Read Aloud Day | Wednesday, Feb. 4 
  Join CBE Superintendents for a virtual World Read Aloud Day event on Feb. 4, from 10:30 - 11 AM. This is open to K-12 students and all CBE staff. Register through EAMS; the Microsoft Teams link will be emailed to registrants and posted on Insite on Feb. 2. 
   
   
• Calgary Public Library Family Reading Pick | A Wrinkle in Time 
  The Family Reading Pick for 2026 is A Wrinkle in Time, by Madeleine L'Engle and there is a family reading adventure at the Calgary Public Library with a live performance of the book's first chapter, space-age treats, and visits from fantastical science fiction characters.
