GUEST SPEAKER TURN OUT

Thank you to everyone that attended our guest speaker last night! We appreciate the parent support and opportunity to connect!

If you are interested in volunteering for events, or participating in school council, please contact Mrs. Tuttle, Ms. McElhinney or email our council at jsm.gwskeneparentcouncil@gmail.com . The commitment to school council is on average about one hour per month and helps us to make important school decisions, fund raise, organize special events and learning opportunities for students, and create a vibrant school community! We would love to have you!

SPRING CONCERT

We are very excited for our upcoming spring concert on Thursday, June 6th! All students are encouraged to attend the evening performance and share their amazing talents!

We will host a rehearsal in the afternoon at 1:30 pm. Parents are welcome to attend; doors will be open at 1:20.

Our evening performance will begin at 6:30; doors will be open at 6:00. Students will check in and families can be seated in the gym.

SPOTLIGHT

Students had an opportunity to come together for Spotlight. Students each thought about what helps them to grow in all ways (physically, academically, socially, emotionally) and started to plan how to represent this on a plant pot. In the coming weeks we will be painting pots, planting seeds, and helping our plants to grow! Stay tuned for more details.

JUNE WELLNESS CHALLENGE

The CBE Indigenous Education Team would like to invite all CBE staff, families and community members to (re)align your spirit-heart-body-mind during the month of June to enhance, your well-being and intercultural understanding.

Week One Challenge:

Find a place to sit or walk on the land.

Think about the following questions:

Spirit – Why did I choose this place?

Heart – How does this place make me feel?

Body – What am I drawn to through my senses?

Mind – What does this place make me wonder about?

A LOOK AT LEARNING

June is National Indigenous History Month! We will be showcasing our learning on June 21 for National Indigenous People’s Day. We will also have the opportunity to listen to a Metis storyteller and participate in land-based activities with our JSM buddies.
