Blue Days – Indoor Recess 

Over the last few weeks, we have had several “Blue Days” where students stay inside for movement breaks and lunch recess. We wanted to thank our students for being so flexible and patient as we navigate the cold temperatures!  

It’s A Crime Not to Read 

This week our Grade 3s were visited by the Calgary Policy Service for our "It's a Crime Not to Read" program. It's a Crime Not to Read is an award-winning Calgary Public Library initiative where Calgary Police Service officers read books to Grade 3 students, share safety messages, and answer questions. The library brought tons of books to share, and our students had an amazing time reading with the police and with each other!

A Look at Learning 

January 20th – 27th is Family Literacy Week!! To celebrate, the CBE has shared ideas and resources to help develop literacy at school. The resources are shared below.

 

School Council Meeting 

Our next School Council Meeting will be Thursday, January 25. Our meetings are held online beginning at 6:00 pm. All parents are welcome to login and hear about what is happening at GW Skene and James Short Memorial, ask questions, and be an active member of our parent community. A link will be sent out later in the week for you to join.
